The Residency is a talent and IP incubator focusing on writers and writer/directors who identify as Global Majority, Female, and/or LGBTQIA+.

Run by Story Compound in partnership with Greenacre Films and supported by the BFI National Lottery Creative Challenge Fund.

Focusing on the genres of action and thriller, The Residency will give ten screenwriters the opportunity to develop their feature length projects, alongside participating in masterclasses with leading industry executives covering topics from IP Law to the writer-executive relationship.

Phase One (Sep 24-Dec 24)

Phase One is for ten UK-based screenwriters who will participate in a series of online masterclasses alongside pitch coaching, delivered by pitching expert Sasha Damjanovski, for both written and verbal pitches.

The ten screenwriters will then have to pitch their developing script ideas to Greenacre Films and Story Compound, where four screenwriters will be taken through to the second phase of the programme.

Phase Two (Jan 25-Mar 25)

The final four will receive dedicated feedback from a script editor over 6 weeks, culminating in professional pitches to industry executives.

Closing Event

The Residency will end in a closing event for all ten screenwriters to celebrate their achievements and network with the wider industry.
